Welcome to Hong Kong Academy’s PLAYGROUP in Sai Kung town!

HKA Playgroup offers a safe and stimulating environment for toddlers and young children to learn and grow through play at their pre-school stage.

Every morning our highly experienced Playgroup teacher leads an engaging mix of indoor and outdoor activities designed to build confidence and independence whilst igniting creativity and imagination.

WHAT CHILDREN LEARN

  • Social-emotional Skills: Children build empathy, learning to share, take turns and create relationships with other children and adults.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Children learn how to use their developing skills to approach challenges and find solutions.
  • Physical Development: Both indoor and outdoor play encourage gross motor and fine motor skills.
  • Cognitive Development: Children expand their verbal and non verbal communication and listening skills to explore new ideas and express their thoughts and feelings.

Playgroup children enjoy a spacious and well equipped classroom which is located in the school's Early Childhood area and opens out directly onto our phenomenal outdoor playscape and organic garden. They also visit the library for storytime and our indoor mini gym for active play.

As part of the HKA community, Playgroup participants are invited to a variety of community events and parent education opportunities as well as having access to our outstanding library.

Based on your child’s engagement and participation in Playgroup, Pre-K assessment procedures may be waived and a space secured for the following school year.

  • Children must be 24 months old (Age 2) to join with an accompanying adult.
  • Once a child is 30 months old and toilet trained they are welcome to attend unaccompanied. Class size is up to 14 children.
  • Playgroup runs Monday to Friday, 8 - 11 am. You can register for 2, 3 or 5 days a week.
  • Price: each 3 hour session costs HK$400. The first session is a free of charge taster.
  • Upon enrolment into Pre-K all Playgroup fees become a tuition fee deposit and are deducted from tuition fee invoices. If a Playgroup member does not enrol as an HKA Pre-K student there is no refund.
  • All Playgroup children will receive one uniform T shirt which is included in the fees and should be worn whilst on campus. Extra pieces can be purchased from HKA’s uniform shop.
