HKA Merit-Based Scholarships
Hong Kong Academy offers a merit-based scholarship programme designed to celebrate and recognise academic excellence and the diverse range of attributes students bring to our community as capable, confident, compassionate and creative global citizens. Open to new students in Grade 9,10 and 11, applicants must fulfill the core criterion - excellent academic grades as well as strong teacher references and attendance records - and must also be able to demonstrate evidence in a field of excellence.
Level of Awards
Award covering 100% tuition fees and capital levy
Award covering 60% tuition fees and capital levy
Award covering 45% tuition fees and capital levy
Award covering 30% tuition fees and capital levy
Up to five platinum and a limited number of gold, silver and bronze scholarships will be awarded each academic year.

How can I apply for a scholarship?
Scholarships are open to new students entering Grade 9,10 or 11. Interested candidates must complete the HKA Admissions Application and must also submit a Personal Statement plus evidence to demonstrate their Field of Excellence. Eg. copies of awards, certificates or other recognitions, teacher or mentor recommendation, a portfolio as relevant.

- Sports
- Visual and/or performing arts.
- Leadership (e.g., innovator, creator, entrepreneur)

Applicants will be required to attend an interview with the Scholarship committee and must be fully committed to attend Hong Kong Academy for the duration of their Secondary School studies ie. from admission to Grade 12 graduation. If a scholarship offer is made the candidate must indicate acceptance within one week after notification of the scholarship award.

Application Deadlines
For the 2027-28 academic year there are two rounds of merit-based scholarship applications planned for students based in Hong Kong. Round 1 application deadline is 2nd November 2026 with offers made to successful candidates by 9th December. If there are spaces available after Round 1 has closed, Round 2 application deadline is 6th April 2027 with offers made to the successful candidates by 29th April 2027. Applications from students based overseas will be considered on a rolling basis if there are still scholarship spaces available.
