Last week we were treated to a piece of history in the form of Hong Kong Academy’s first-ever primary school musical! Led by inquisitive archaeologists and their fossil friend, we explored the wonders of ancient civilization and met characters from seven different regions who built cultures, cities and inventions that helped form the world that we know today,
The cast included all students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 and the show was directed by our primary school music teacher Mr Nicholas. Students work collaboratively to choreograph each piece. The production showcased the wonderful song and dance talents of the performers, and also highlighted how they worked together to bring the story to life by adding their own unique interpretations, humour and style to every scene.
The musical was also a wonderful expression of community, featuring an all-faculty orchestra, props made by faculty and students during after school activity classes and secondary school students helping out behind the scenes with rehearsals, stage setting, make-up, lighting and sound. Parents, siblings, grandparents and friends were thrilled to witness this magical event and many were moved to tears as they celebrated the students with a standing ovation at the end of the show.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
