Cognitive Coaching Foundation Course Days 1 – 4 (21st to 24th May 2025)
The Cognitive Coaching Foundation Course is a transformational professional development experience that empowers participants to become effective coaches. During Days 1-4, participants engage in a dynamic and interactive learning journey to structure coaching conversations that support the thinking of their colleagues. This course will be of particular interest to teachers and educational leaders looking to develop professional learning communities that nurture a culture of collaboration and inquiry.
This will be a highly interactive four days that will include:
- Demonstrations, modelling, and role play
- Small group and whole class activities
- Reflective conversations
- Readings from text and a course guide
- Opportunities to develop your identity as a cognitive coach
Learning Outcomes:
- A deeper understanding of the WHAT, WHY, and HOW of Cognitive Coaching
- Increased consciousness and craftmanship in applying interpersonal communication skills that build trust and rapport
- Greater awareness of active listening strategies and identification of embedded States of Mind
- Appreciation for the power of a structured personal and professional conversation
- Confidence to navigate planning and reflecting conversations
- Recognition of five forms of feedback and their impact and purpose
- An examination of the role of questions and data in mediating thinking
- Emerging personal and professional identity as a cognitive coach
