Our admissions assessments are not pass/fail, rather are a way for us to gather more information about each student and assess where they are in relation to the rest of the children in the grade level. The assessment is different depending on the grade level.
Children entering Pre-K through Kindergarten will typically be asked to spend some time in a Pre-K or Kindergarten classroom, followed by a short developmental assessment with the classroom teacher. Children entering Grades 1-5 will take a maths, reading and writing assessment with the classroom teacher and/or admissions staff. Children entering Grades 6 and up will sit an online MAP assessment for maths and reading, as well as complete a brief written component.
After the assessment, we will review the results at our next Admissions Committee meeting and contact the family once a recommendation has been made.
